About me
I am Kate Meek, an undergrad student at the University of Tampa. I am a Political Science, pre-law student. I am also a student who has always been drawn to exploring ideas and expressing them through different creative forms. My creative experience came from academic writing and public speaking, crafting essays, speeches, and reflections that connect philosophy, culture, and personal perspective. The creative process is reflective and deliberate; I like to spend time thinking about meaning before I begin creating. I see creativity as both exploration and expression, a way to make sense of the world and share that understanding with others. I often approach projects with curiosity and patience, revising until the work feels authentic to my intentions. My influences come from a mix of philosophical texts, social issues, and artistic expression. I’m inspired by writers and thinkers like Kyle Whyte, who explore justice and identity in complex ways, as well as through visual art and photography that capture emotion and truth in subtle yet profound details. I enjoyed working with words the most; writing essays, reflections, or creative pieces, but I’m also drawn to visual storytelling and presentations that combine text and imagery. The people I trust often describe me as thoughtful and intuitive, someone who sees connections others might miss. Their encouragement has helped me embrace the idea that creativity isn’t just about producing something new; it’s about expressing ideas with clarity and empathy. Right now, I’m focused on developing my voice as both a thinker and creator. I want my work to inspire others to question, reflect, and understand different perspectives. My vision is to continue blending academic insight with creative expression, to write and create works that bridge the gap between logic and emotion, structure and imagination. Whether I’m writing a paper, preparing a presentation, or designing a visual piece, I aim to communicate meaningfully and honestly. Creativity, for me, is a lifelong practice of learning, connecting, and expressing what it means to be human.
